Kam Fung Restaurant is a typical place to have a Hong Kong style high tea. It is famous for its unique and traditional food and Beverages.
Every time I go to Kam Fung I will for sure to order 2 things, Milk tea and chicken pie. First Milk tea is a drink that could be found in Hong Kong and not in anywhere else. Lets talk a little bit about how milk tea is created. Milk tea is created during the 70’s when workers is still drinking tea, they saw the British adding milk into their drink (coffee), therefore they also added milk in the tea. They found out that it taste really good, and it is kept until now.
What is interesting about the milk tea in Kam Fung is that if you order cold milk tea, there is no ice in it. There are 2 reasons for this. Firstly, the cup of milk tea won’t be half full with ice. Secondly, when the ice melts it will dilute the milk tea and by putting the milk tea in the refrigerator they won’t have to add ice and it is chilled. A little secret of how to make a cup of milk tea is the black & white milk. It is made in Holland but you can’t find it in Holland because it is only for Hong Kong. You can find a single can of black & white milk in the market as it only receive orders from restaurants.
Another food I will recommend is the chicken pie, it has a crusty surface and the filling is full of chicken and ham, which makes it taste really good.
